One of his earlier large watercolours, this intimate scene expresses Mirecki’s love of the woodlands around him home in the Colne Valley, Chappel, Essex. Nothing man made intrudes into the mystery of the pool and its circle of broken branches.

As part of Mirecki’s ‘Fiftieth Birthday’ Exhibition at Chappel Galleries in 2006 it was the favourite painting of Sister Wendy Beckett, who came to the Private View and celebrations. It was a marvellously sunny day in the middle of September, visitors spilling out into the garden, sitting by the river.

Just prior to the exhibition, Chappel Galleries was a sponsor for the Chappel Beer Festival, annually held in the East Anglian Railway Museum in Chappel it being the 20th anniversary of both the gallery and the museum. This leads into another of Władysław’s enthusiasms: the railway, enthusiasm bordering on fervour.

WŁADYSŁAW MIRECKI 1956 Born Chelmsford, Essex of Polish parentage. He is self-taught, having painted all his life including his periods gaining his science degree, as an industrial designer and co-proprietor of Chappel Galleries (1986 - March 2010).
